Youth Program, Congolese Girls' Group

I've never met a sunnier bunch of spirits than these 3rd grade supergirls from the Democratic Republic of Congo. This workshop was my first introduction to this amazing group and we had tons of fun. The workshop lead had superhero masks ready to be painted and the girls dove into the project with giddy excitement, making up their own superhero personas and naming their special superpowers. All eight girls were asked what superpowers they'd like to have, and each one was insistent that they wanted the power to "save people"... along with flying, of course.

I can't imagine anything more gratifying than seeing these eager faces bursting with creativity and empowerment. I am eternally grateful to our generous community of art supply donors.

This activity will be tough to top, but I am looking forward to the challenge. Tune in next time when we hope to spend an afternoon crafting musical instruments out of painted, dried gourds for our own mini art/jam session.
