Olha Moisiuk, PhD

About the Artist

A scholar of art history, Olha earned her PhD from M.T. Rylsky Institute of Art, Folklore and Ethnology of the National Academy of Science in Ukraine in 2015.

Olha came to the U.S. from Ukraine in 2016, making her new home in Auburn, Washington with her husband, daughter, and mother-in-law after a story that seems fated - a story she refers to as, "How I drew my future." In 2006, at the request of a friend to make a painting for his colleague, Olha decided on a landscape theme. She searched through photographs, her gaze stopping on Mount Rainier.

"Its beauty astonished me," she says. "When I was painting the mountain, I admired the beauty of this incredible place and dreamed that one day I would live in such a beautiful area." Ten years later, she and her family found themselves resettling in Auburn, right next to the mountain she had painted!
